It's not faster, as in getting connected faster, but you get to ask your question faster. Instead of answering "This is _____ from Vacation Planning?" They ask your name, account number and security question. After a short pause and them coming back and saying "the computer is slow today, but it was working fine a minute ago. Please bare with me.", they say "How may I help you with your premier account today, may I call you ____?" With a Platinum account, caller ID brings up your account info as the agent answers the phone. They just answer "O' Platinum One, how can this unworthy servant assist you today?"
