Due to the closed borders, in China, less pork will be sent there. China buys 260,000 tons of pork from the US.

Although Smithfield has temporarily closed it plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that produces 4 - 5% of U.S. pork, according to pork industry expert Steve Meyer in a story from NPR:

In fact, the pork industry is currently dealing with a glut of its product due to a collapse of demand from chain restaurants and food service companies that supply corporate cafeterias and schools.. . .

Many of those places are now closed, and people aren't eating enough bacon at home to make up the difference.

A side effect of the coronavirus. People may be eating healthier and pollution is significantly less.

Yeah, I'm definitely eating healthier, home cooked meals. But I'm compensating by drinking way more beer than usual...………..
